Results for 2021 WA720 Rounds 5, 6, 7 & 8

We were pleased to welcome 2 new archers from the GTA who joined us this weekend for our last 4 x 720 weekend on August 28-29, 2021.

On Sunday, we had a 45-minute lightning delay and so most archers did not stay for the afternoon round.  The scores suffered a little due to the wind changes.

Please find the results below, or look at the Archery Canada website.  Congratulations to Robin Horlock for his PB in Master Men Compound!

This finishes our outdoor tournament schedule for 2021.  Thank you to everyone who participated, and a special thank you to everyone who complied with Ontario’s COVID-19 screening process and follow-up.  It makes our job a lot easier when we do not have to chase everyone.  Have a fantastic long weekend and AO Target Championship in September.

Results for 2021 WA720 Rounds 1, 2, 3 & 4

Thank you to our competitive archers who came out to support weekend #1 of SNAC’s outdoor tournament season for 2021.

Many archers had not been able to shoot during the pandemic and subsequent lock-down during the long COVID-19 upheavals and closures of most sports training facilities across Ontario and Quebec.

Saturday afternoon’s round #2 was particularly challenging with a very tricky head wind to add into the mix.  Well done, everyone!

Here are the links to the results for rounds #1, #2, #3 and #4:

Offering classes again / Staff has been vaccinated / no Session #4 group lessons in 2021

Ontario’s 3rd COVID-19 wave is subsiding and the stay-at-home order was terminated on June 02.  Now, we are entering Phase 1 of the re-opening programme outlined by the Ford government.

Kathleen Millar has been in touch directly with all students/parents/grandparents who had pre-booked lessons prior to the restrictions being instituted, and now we are ready to take new students and future bookings during normal business hours.

There will be NO Session #4 for group lessons in 2021, as we would be finished all those classes by the beginning of June and many students are using the warm weather to pursue other outdoor activities.  Group lessons will resume in the fall/winter 2021/2022.  Keep posted on developments through the SNAS e-bulletin.

All classes must be held outside on our 70m range; even though Kathy and Larry have received their first vaccine shot, all COVID-19 restrictions will continue for group sizes, mask-wearing, sanitation, pre-booking and physical distancing.  NO walk-in classes or lanes times will be accepted; no spectators allowed, with the exception of guardians.

We look forward to a healthy, safe and happy summertime as we move closer to a return to full service at our shop/club.  More information on tournaments will be coming in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your patience and co-operation.

Saturday, May 22 Outdoor Lanes available for booking

Effective today, May 20, 2021, the Ontario government has announced that outdoor sports are set to reopen across the province on Saturday, May 22nd as part of a three-step plan aimed at gradually allowing for more indoor and outdoor activities to resume by the end of summer.   Therefore, South Nation Archery is pleased to offer booking times for our outdoor lanes starting at 9am May 22nd.  Please e-mail or phone to book your time slot.

Under the new plan, restrictions will be eased gradually through June, July and August based on vaccination rates and key public health and health-care indicators.

The current stay-at-home order will remain in place until June 2, with the exception of these newly-announced changes to some outdoor activities.

The three phases of the province’s plan are:

  • Phase one (starting week of June 13): An initial focus on resuming outdoor activities with smaller crowds where the risk of transmission is lower. This includes allowing outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people, outdoor dining with up to four people per table and non-essential retail at 15 per cent capacity.
  • Phase two: Further expanding outdoor activities and resuming limited indoor services with small numbers of people. This includes outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people, outdoor sports and leagues, personal care services as well as indoor religious services, rites or ceremony gatherings at 15 per cent capacity. All indoor gatherings in this phase will require face coverings.
  • Phase three: Expanding access to indoor settings, with restrictions, including where there are large numbers of people and where face coverings can’t always be worn. This includes indoor sports and recreational fitness, indoor dining, museums, art galleries, libraries, casinos and bingo halls, with capacity limits.

REVISED: Outdoor Lanes waiting for re-open with COVID-19 Restrictions

May 14, 2021 COVID-19 Update:  The stay-at-home order has been lifted, now slated for June 02.  This may change at any time.  Thank you for your patience.

The Official Opposition party is supposed to table a motion next week allowing for outdoor activities with restrictions.  We are hopeful that this will pass, but the majority government at Queen’s Park may not allow it.  Please keep checking back on our website for updates.

Once the government does allow outdoor activities to resume, we will be pleased to open our OUTDOOR lanes to a maximum of FIVE people per hour, by appointment only.  We will be able to offer private lessons outdoors-only as well.  Please contact Kathy or Larry to book your time by phone 613-989-2943, or by e-mail at info@southnationarchery.com.

South Nation Archery continues to offer a clean environment for its customers and students.  We want ensure our guests that we take the Corona virus outbreak seriously.  Thank you.

April 2021 COVID-19 Update

South Nation Archery may not schedule ANY lanes times for recreational use indoors or outdoors until after May 1st.  Please keep posted on this website for updates.

All group classes will end on Friday, April 02, 2021.

All indoor tournaments are cancelled.

Retail continues during normal business hours, but we ask that you phone or write for an appointment.

We continue to offer you a safe, knowledgeable and friendly environment.  Please stay well and observe COVID-19 guidelines for wearing masks and keeping physical distance from non-family members.  We are looking forward to getting back to normal for the outdoor season.

Rian Chicoine is our Nutrition Week Champion for 2021

Congratulations to all our advanced and intermediate students who took the 2021 Nutrition Week challenge.  This year, the person who had the most balanced diet for 7 straight days, with the least amount of junk food was Rian Chicoine.  Congratulations, Rian!

Our Nutrition Week challenge is focused on education, on calorie quality, not on calorie intake.  This is about nutrition, not dieting, and a lot of our students learned that there were patterns to their eating habits which could be altered easily in order to improve energy and hydration.

South Nation runs this challenge in the advanced/intermediate classes each March to mark National Nutrition month.  For more information about the revised Canada Food Guide and how to fuel your body better, please use government of Canada link: https://food-guide.canada.ca/en/
