Gib Henderson was an essential part of Saskatchewan Archery

We regret to pass on more sad news, but Gilbert (Gib) Henderson has departed this world and we will miss him.  It’s strange that Gib dies of complications due to a stroke so close after Tom Jennings left us because they could have been related, so close were they in temperament and in their love of archery.

Through good years and bad, Gib always helped out the archers of Saskatchewan and took on roles when no one else would help.  His whole family grew up in the sport and his lovely wife, Wilma, was there all the time, too.

Condolences and special thoughts go out to Wilma, Phil, Karen and the rest of the Henderson family.

Tom Jennings – One of archery’s most influential innovators passes away February 2013

Tom Jennings - innovator and mentor
Tom Jennings – innovator and mentor

It is with sadness and regret that we share the passing of Tom Jennings, compound bow company owner, inventor, innovator and mentor.  For those of us who knew him, or worked with him, Tom was a giant among giants.  Passionate to a fault, sometimes stubborn as a mule, he was always an endearing, irascible soul and a fighter to the end.

He retired from the archery industry to Honduras some years ago and recently suffered from ill health.  And now, he is gone.  We will miss you, Tom.

Christopher Perkins, a member of our club, just shot another world senior compound record today in the USA.  Yesterday, he broke his own world junior record!  He shot 710/720.

Today, out of a possible 720 points standing at 70 meters and shooting on a 122cm face (10 ring to 5 ring only), Christopher shot 715Unbelievably good shooting!  The former record, held by Dietmar Trillus (CAN) was 714.

Congratulations, Christopher!
