2022 WA18M February Results

Congratulations to all our members and students who participated in our first WA-registered tournament since the institution of vaccine passports.

It was wonderful to see everyone back as well as welcome new competitors from class.  A good start after a long break, it was good to see everyone using the mental techniques from the advanced classes.

Our next tournament is Ontario Archery 10-ring Championship Week, running from Monday, February 21 to Sunday, February 27.  If you have not signed up yet, please contact Kathy or Larry in order to pre-register.

Here are the results:

Rian Chicoine is our Nutrition Week Champion for 2021

Congratulations to all our advanced and intermediate students who took the 2021 Nutrition Week challenge.  This year, the person who had the most balanced diet for 7 straight days, with the least amount of junk food was Rian Chicoine.  Congratulations, Rian!

Our Nutrition Week challenge is focused on education, on calorie quality, not on calorie intake.  This is about nutrition, not dieting, and a lot of our students learned that there were patterns to their eating habits which could be altered easily in order to improve energy and hydration.

South Nation runs this challenge in the advanced/intermediate classes each March to mark National Nutrition month.  For more information about the revised Canada Food Guide and how to fuel your body better, please use government of Canada link: https://food-guide.canada.ca/en/

2020 Candle-Master Quintin Fawcett

During our COVID-19 delayed Session #4, we held our annual candle event on October 28-29.  The archer must shoot out the flame without touching the arrow.  It takes quite a lot of skill and calmness.

This year’s Master is Cadet Compound archer Quintin Fawcett who shot THREE candles successfully.  Congratulations, Quintin!  You are the youngest archer to take out 3 in one class!

Then we had quite the family feud in our Thursday night 7pm classes:  all 3 parents shot out at least 1 candle flame (Connie Siedule shot out 2 of them), but none of the children in the families was able to do so.  Of course the parents did not rub in that fact …

We had a large number of people shoot their first candle flames ever.  So, with them plus repeat successful archers, big congratulations to:  Serenity Last (her dad failed to put one out), Georgia Stanley, Stella Fawcett, Oz Alves, Eden Baker, William Baker and Pam LeClair.

Our annual event is the distraction night activity built into advanced group lessons.  Other distraction night events include team rounds, shutting out sounds around you, and field archery.  For more information on advanced classes, please contact Kathleen Millar.

2020 Nutrition Challenge a Big Success

March is always Nutrition Month and in our Advanced Classes we always have a challenge in order to see who eats the most balanced, healthy diet over the course of one week.

We were able to get this done before shutting down classes for the pandemic.  Here are the highlights:

Grand Champion:  Garnett Last 840/910 points!  Congratulations!

Class winners:  Serenity Last 780, Robert Kerr 770, and Bill Mackey 770.

Special congratulations to Serenity who was the only person to score a perfect 130 in one day!

We will have our annual Nutrition Challenge celebration as soon as we can finish the last two classes of session #3.  Stayed tuned for more details.

2020 SNAC Indoor National Champs Results

Congratulations to all our competitors.  We had some great representation from western Quebec, Ontario and northern New York State.

In particular, we enjoyed the successes of our archers including Quintin Fawcett, Mike Greenough and Pam LeClair who all shot PBs during the event.

Our club results can be found at: https://can.service.ianseo.net/General/CompetitionDetail.php?Competition=2020009

2020 February WA18M Tournament Results

Thanks to all those archers who participated in our annual February get-ready-for-the-provincial-champs tournament.

We had some good shoot and CanBow badges were earned by Serenity Last and Bryanna Larocque, both recurve archers with a passion for shooting.  Well done both of you!  🙂

Here are the full results from our tournament.

Next tournament is Archery ON 10-ring championship week from February 17-23.  There will be no classes that week.

2019 Candle-Masters Congratulations

There was no dominant archer this year in the advanced classes.  And though we had a lot of arrows pass through the flame, only the following archers put it out without touching the candle itself.  One candle each for:

Compound archers

Emma McMillan, Hannah Rousseau, Bill Mackey and Hester Grodde.

Recurve archers

Pam Leclair, Bob Kerr and Luke Seldenthuis

Congratulations to all students!

Mohamed El-Halawani shoots PB at February WA18m

Congratulations to all our participants as we welcomed 3 new archers to our tournaments.  Welcome back to Crystal Foster who has been unable to shoot tournaments for over a year.

Special shout-out to Mohamed El-Halawani (SR M Rec) who shot a PB 552 on the round today.
