MAKE UP CLASSES FOR SESSION 3

MAKE UP CLASSES FOR SESSION 3 Weeks #5 and #6    Advanced and Beginner

As you may know already, South Nation Archery has been able to keep the retail shop open for business under the “new normal” because we sell hunting supplies, and this falls under the Agricultural exemptions issued at the start of the province-wide COVID-19 response.

The Ontario Government is re-opening the provincial economy as of May 16th, and we are planning to finish our Session #3 classes, while maintaining social distancing.

Below you will find a timetable for the 8 group sessions that were postponed due to the provincial lockdown.

READ CAREFULLY:

  1. Both week 5 and week 6 class material will be covered in ONE 2-hour session from 6pm-8pm. You are invited to shoot on the date designated for your original group.  This completes the session that you paid for.
  2. All classes will be held OUTSIDE ONLY, rain or sun. Come prepared!
  3. All instructional equipment that you borrowed during your normal classes will be cleaned and available outside only. Everything will be cleaned again afterwards.
  4. Washroom facilities will be provided, one person at a time in the building.
  5. Physical distancing will be adhered to both on the shooting line, and at the target butts.
  6. Kathy will be wearing a mask and gloves during classes in case she needs to be less than 2m away from students, i.e. in an emergency.
  7. All students will use handwipes provided before starting class.

APRIL 16 News Update

We continue to offer a safe environment for our retail customers and continue normal business hours.

We would appreciate our customers’ help in this matter.  If at all possible, please phone or e-mail to make an appointment for your supplies and services.  In this way, we can regulate the number of people in the shop as well as practice social distancing properly.

If there are too many customers in the shop, then we ask you to wait in your vehicle and we will wave to you for your turn to enter.

Many USA-based archery manufacturers have closed down operations including PSE.  Please be patient if you have special orders on-hold.  We will get the product to you as soon as we have it.

The lanes will be closed for general target practice at least until mid-May due to the recent government announcement.  Classes are postponed.  Kathy Millar will be in touch with all group lesson students from session #3 when she will be able to resume the last 2 weeks.  We have not decided the fate of Session #4.

Please use the hand-wipes at the front door when you enter.  Continue to practice social distancing.  Thank you and stay safe.

Easter Weekend During COVID-19

Kathy and Larry wish everyone a safe, if solitary, Easter Weekend.  During this time of year, we also wish peace and joy to our customers celebrating Passover and Ramadan.

We are closed on Friday, April 10th, as well as our normal annual closure of Sunday – Tuesday.  We will re-open at 1pm on Wednesday, April 15th and continue normal business hours.  However, our lanes remain closed.

Session 4 classes, which were supposed to start the week of April 13th, have been postponed until further notice.

Take care of yourself and remember to wash your hands regularly and practice social distancing!

2020 Nutrition Challenge a Big Success

March is always Nutrition Month and in our Advanced Classes we always have a challenge in order to see who eats the most balanced, healthy diet over the course of one week.

We were able to get this done before shutting down classes for the pandemic.  Here are the highlights:

Grand Champion:  Garnett Last 840/910 points!  Congratulations!

Class winners:  Serenity Last 780, Robert Kerr 770, and Bill Mackey 770.

Special congratulations to Serenity who was the only person to score a perfect 130 in one day!

We will have our annual Nutrition Challenge celebration as soon as we can finish the last two classes of session #3.  Stayed tuned for more details.

UPDATE on Session #4 group lessons – postponement

South Nation Archery is postponing the start of our Session #4 advanced and beginner youth and adult GROUP classes, probably until it is warm enough to use the outdoor facilities.  We will keep you posted.

In the meantime:

SPECIAL COVID-19 CLOSING HOURS FOR TUESDAY, MARCH 24!!!

Normally, we are closed on Tuesdays.  However, in order to serve our customers better, we will be open on March 24th from 1 pm to 9 pm.

Students finishing up the last 2 lessons for Session #3 evening classes will have them re-scheduled.  Details will follow as soon as the government allows us to re-open.

Hopefully, we will see everyone in two weeks!

2020 SNAC Indoor National Champs Results

Congratulations to all our competitors.  We had some great representation from western Quebec, Ontario and northern New York State.

In particular, we enjoyed the successes of our archers including Quintin Fawcett, Mike Greenough and Pam LeClair who all shot PBs during the event.

Our club results can be found at: https://can.service.ianseo.net/General/CompetitionDetail.php?Competition=2020009

And on our website at:

For full national results, please consult Archery Canada’s website late tonight, March 08th, or first thing tomorrow morning.

Daylight Savings Starts on Regional Indoor Championships Sunday

A friendly reminder that Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday, March 08, which just happens to be the day that we are holding 2 of the 3 lines for the national indoor regional target championships.

If you have signed up for the morning or afternoon lines, please remember that we move forward one hour.  Don’t forget to adjust your clocks before you go to bed or you’ll be 1 hour late for your shooting time 😉

Classes CANCELLED for February 27, 2020

Due to severe snow drifting and poor visibility caused by high winds, SNAC is CANCELLING both Advanced Adult classes tonight.  All roads in the area are snow-covered.

We will resume the course next Thursday, March 5th at 7pm and 8pm.  The session will be 5 weeks’ long instead of 6 and the fee will be pro-rated accordingly.

Please stay safe!  See all Thursday night students next week!
