Ages 6-12.


Equipment is supplied. Please bring indoor shoes and wear form-fitting shirt or sweater.
2010-2011 Classes Advanced 6:00 pm The next Advanced Adult and Youth sessions begin November 11-12, 2010. Actual session dates are posted. These sessions fill up quite quickly.

Session 1

Status:
Classes: Nov. 10th: Class #1: Not all students have trained during the summer months. This is a good opportunity to review the basics for an advanced archer. Topics this week include: “How to do a warm-up – design your own warm-up routine – part 1”. “Importance of c
Nov. 17th: Class #2: Proper warm-up is essential to reduce the chance of chronic injury and to get the mind and body ready to shoot an arrow smoothly. We’ll finish the warm-up design, review breathing & centering and work on the stringhand side of the shot.
Nov. 24th: Class #3: Breathing is a key centering technique, used in the warm-up and during the execution of the shot; we’ll review this technique and the importance of core strength & posture. Archers will set out their rough draft of goals for the 2011 indo
Dec. 1st: Class #4: A warm-up and review will be followed by a CanBow round with level 2 knowledge quiz. Each archer is working at an individual level.
Dec. 8th: Class #5: A warm-up and review will be followed by a CanBow round with level 2 knowledge quiz. Each archer is working at an individual level.
Dec. 15th: Class #6: Distraction night – be prepared! We’ll also have a team round and balloons – level 2 knowledge testing completed. Have a great holiday!
 

Session 2

Status:
Classes: Jan. 5th: Back from the year-end break and ready to get into the 2011 competitive season, we’ll review goals and video-tape form in order to see where we need to concentrate. The lesson will close with a fun team round.
Jan. 12th: Class #2: Let’s take what we learned from the video session and combine it with passive aiming exercises. We will shoot week #1 for leagues/mailmatches. Lots to do!
Jan. 19th: Class #3: Reinforce form, passive aiming and add to that the power of breathing to aid aiming and concentration. We will shoot week #2 for leagues/mailmatches.
Jan. 26th: Class #4: Are you eating the right food in order to shoot better and have more energy during a tournament? We’ll find out this week! Also, we reinforce form, passive aiming and focusing. We will shoot week #3 for leagues/mailmatches.
Feb. 2nd: Class #5: Bring in your nutrition summary – don’t forget! We are working on the rhythm of the shot as well as the rhythm inbetween shots, AND paying attention to whether the shot is correct or not BEFORE it is released. We will shoot week #4 for
Feb. 9th: Class #6: We will shoot week #5 for leagues/mailmatches and then we will have Distraction Night. Be prepared!! Don’t forget that we start Session #3 right away – so see you next week.
 

Session 3

Status:
Classes: Feb. 16th: Class #1: The Eyes Have It! We take a good look at how your eyes perform during the pre-aim, at full draw and on the follow-through. We will shoot week #6 for leagues/mailmatches in preparation for the OAA indoor championships next week.
Feb. 23rd: Class #2: The OAA championships start scoring at 6pm, so no matter which class you are in, you should be at class for 5:30 in order to warm-up properly and shoot some warm-up arrows. We will have time for only 2 sighter-ends before we start scorin
Mar. 2nd: Class #3: What did you learn/what do you need to improve on from the OAA championships? Each person’s answer will be different. You will be expected to reflect on your performance and what to work on next. We will shoot week #7 for leagues/mailm
Mar. 9th: Class #4: While you are shooting week #8 for leagues/mailmatches, we will be video-taped. Next week, in class #5, we will look at your progress. This is the last league night; if you do not have a minimum of 6 scores, you must come in and make up
Mar. 16th: Class #5: We review the video-tape session from last week while shooting CanBow.
Mar. 23rd: Class #6: We will review breathing and passive aiming before we shoot out candle flames. We will have one week off before starting session #4.
 

Session 4

Status:
Classes: Apr. 6th: Class #1: Time to get ready for outdoor shooting. Wear warm clothing that you can shoot in & water-proof shoes. We will shoot indoors, working on body angles and making sure that your choice of clothing was a good one!
Apr. 13th: Class #2: We’ll work on stance in simulated wind conditions and uneven terrain, as well as working on body angles for longer distances.
Apr. 20th: Class #3: Shoot outside as weather permits, getting sight-marks for an adapted youth CDN 900 round. (sunlight permitting)
Apr. 27th: Class #4: We will work more on core strength in the wind and body position on uneven surfaces outside – get your weathervanes working! (sunlight permitting)
May. 4th: Class #5: Start scoring half of the CDN 900 round.
May. 11th: Class #6: Let's finish the CDN 900 round and the last class for session #4. See you in November!
