MAKE UP CLASSES FOR SESSION 3

MAKE UP CLASSES FOR SESSION 3 Weeks #5 and #6    Advanced and Beginner

As you may know already, South Nation Archery has been able to keep the retail shop open for business under the “new normal” because we sell hunting supplies, and this falls under the Agricultural exemptions issued at the start of the province-wide COVID-19 response.

The Ontario Government is re-opening the provincial economy as of May 16th, and we are planning to finish our Session #3 classes, while maintaining social distancing.

Below you will find a timetable for the 8 group sessions that were postponed due to the provincial lockdown.

READ CAREFULLY:

  1. Both week 5 and week 6 class material will be covered in ONE 2-hour session from 6pm-8pm. You are invited to shoot on the date designated for your original group.  This completes the session that you paid for.
  2. All classes will be held OUTSIDE ONLY, rain or sun. Come prepared!
  3. All instructional equipment that you borrowed during your normal classes will be cleaned and available outside only. Everything will be cleaned again afterwards.
  4. Washroom facilities will be provided, one person at a time in the building.
  5. Physical distancing will be adhered to both on the shooting line, and at the target butts.
  6. Kathy will be wearing a mask and gloves during classes in case she needs to be less than 2m away from students, i.e. in an emergency.
  7. All students will use handwipes provided before starting class.

All 2020 Outdoor SNAC Sanctioned Tournaments Cancelled

Due to Archery’s Canada policy statement issued on April 9th, 2020, SNAC must cancel its planned summer tournaments:

“The Board has suspended the Federation’s recognition of tournaments in its calendar for the purposes of Canadian records, and Canadian Ranking lists until July 31. Currently registered events will be cancelled on the Archery Canada calendar and no further registrations will be approved until further notice and public health restrictions are lifted.”

Therefore, our nationally-sanctioned CDN900 set for June 24th is cancelled until further notice, as well as our annual 4 x 720 weekend of July 11-12,

We regret this decision, and will keep our members informed if and when we will be able to re-schedule these events.  Keep tuned for further updates.

South Nation Archery Supply Helping Out Health Care Providers During COVID-19

On Monday, April 06th, we delivered 1 dozen hand-made face masks with pockets for filters to the Sewing For Life community group in Winchester, Ontario.  Kathy Millar had enough remnant cotton material and elastic to build the 12 face masks.

The co-ordinators, including Cheryl Guy, are gathering cotton, elastic and thread for volunteer sewing machine operators in order to create these masks for health care workers.  They will be used in cancer wards, long term care facilities and other institutions in order to save more N95 masks for the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

If you have 50% or 100% pre-shrunk cotton fabric that you do not need, and/or thin elastic, please consider donating either to South Nation Archery Supply or to the Sewing For Life group.  You can reach Cheryl Guy at 613-774-3399.  You can drop off any supplies to SNAC during normal business hours.

Cloth remnants should be at least 18″ long.  Elastic should be 1/8″ wide.

2020 Nutrition Challenge a Big Success

March is always Nutrition Month and in our Advanced Classes we always have a challenge in order to see who eats the most balanced, healthy diet over the course of one week.

We were able to get this done before shutting down classes for the pandemic.  Here are the highlights:

Grand Champion:  Garnett Last 840/910 points!  Congratulations!

Class winners:  Serenity Last 780, Robert Kerr 770, and Bill Mackey 770.

Special congratulations to Serenity who was the only person to score a perfect 130 in one day!

We will have our annual Nutrition Challenge celebration as soon as we can finish the last two classes of session #3.  Stayed tuned for more details.

Final 2020 Mail Match Results

Greetings:

Since we have been forced to close our lanes to the general public effective March 25, we have submitted our mail match scores both to Archery Canada and Archery Ontario.

You will find those results below.  Two things to note:

1.  AC has decided that due to the COVID-19 epidemic forcing most clubs to close, they will take the TOP FOUR scores this year instead of 6 for the averages.  We have not been contacted by AO regarding any changes.

2.  AC has advised us that all indoor championship medals and indoor mail match medals will not be distributed until later in the spring/summer.  We will let everyone know when they have arrived.
