2013 Indoor Regionals at SNAC – results posted

Congratulations to all archers across Canada who participated in the 2013 version of the multi-site indoor championships.  This year, we had 28 archers participate at SNAC with one team:  the Parker family.  Results are being posted now.  Unfortunately, it will be a little slower this year because the contact e-mail address in the spreadsheet was incorrect.  But, they are fixing that situation now.  Expect result updates regularly for the several weeks.  You will find the SNAC site results on our website under “Archery Information/Scores”.

2013 OAA 10-ring Championship scores at SNAC

Go to the Archery Info/Scores page for the results from our week of OAA 10-ring championships.  Scores are posted for OAA and non-OAA members.  Congratulations to everyone who participated.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Simzer/Henry families from their harrowing car accident that prevented them from joining us.  And, a big “sorry we missed you” to the Jaquemet family who had so much trouble getting back from Whistler and missed the event also.

One of archery’s most influential innovators passes away February 2013

Tom Jennings - innovator and mentor
Tom Jennings – innovator and mentor

It is with sadness and regret that we share the passing of Tom Jennings, compound bow company owner, inventor, innovator and mentor.  For those of us who knew him, or worked with him, Tom was a giant among giants.  Passionate to a fault, sometimes stubborn as a mule, he was always an endearing, irascible soul and a fighter to the end.

He retired from the archery industry to Honduras some years ago and recently suffered from ill health.  And now, he is gone.  We will miss you, Tom.

2013 OAA’s IFAA indoors at SNAC had 2 tie scores

Congratulations to all the archers who participated on January 27 for the 2013 edition of the provincial IFAA championships.  Results are posted.

Incredible as it may seem, we had not one but TWO tie scores which had to be broken on the number of “X” shot.  In the Male Cub Recurve category, Josh Sequillion came first ahead of Josh Parker 7 to 6 with matching scores of 250, and in the Male Master Recurve category, Vasily Natsvlichvili won over Peter Garrett 14 to 13 with matching scores of 275.

Special mention goes to our 4 Male Pre-Cub Recurve archers who shot at 11 yards on the morning line.

Well done, everyone!  See you at the next OAA Championship during the week of February 18th.

Congratulations to both archers!

UPDATED: SNAC members medal at OSG

The province of Ontario hosts a mini-Olympic Games every two years for outdoor sports like archery, and winter sports, too.  In even years, a host city runs the Ontario Summer Games (OSG).  This year the Games were held in Toronto from August 16-20.

Congratulations to the following SNAC members who represented the Eastern Ontario regional team at these Games:  Bronze-medallist Lindsay Fumerton (Female Recurve), Sydney Sequillion (Female Recurve) who shot a whole bunch of PBs (!), Silver-medallist Logan Coulter (Male Compound) who lost the gold medal on a tie-breaker one-arrow shoot off after tieing for total score over 2 days, and Michael Bracey!

(For the information of club members, the following SNAC members were not eligible to compete in these Games:  Jordan Sequillion, Molly Solc and Christopher Perkins.)
