Nancy Chalut wins FTAQ Open Sep. 4th, 2010
Congratulations to SNAC member Nancy Chalut, who despite the terrible winds and cold temperatures out-shot all the other senior/junior recurve women on Sunday, September 5th to win the FTAQ Open.

Conditions were quite poor throughout the weekend, but with strong shooting and a good understanding of wind shooting, Nancy was able to take on Vanessa Lee twice in the final rounds of the Double Elimination format and win the title.

Nancy lives in Port Perry, Ontario but trains at South Nation Archery Club. She was one of five nominees for SNAC's prestigious Most Improved Archer Award in 2009, and competed at the Commonwealth Games trials in Winnipeg and the FCA national championships in Halifax earlier this summer.

Congratulations, Nancy!

Chris Perkins competes at Ogden WC Aug. 1st, 2010
Congratulations to SNAC member Christopher Perkins, who competed in his first FITA World Cup event in August. He shot on the same field at Weber University in Ogden, Utah that he had competed on in 2009 during the FITA World Youth Championships.

Chris shot the new hit/miss format at 50m in the single elimination round, coming up against one of the best compound archers in the world, Peter Elsinga of the Netherlands. And though Christopher shot well, Elsinga shot just a little bit better and eliminated Chris.

Good shooting, Chris! Continued success and good shooting to you in 2010-2011!

New HST affects class prices Jul. 7th, 2010
Please note that effective November 2010, SNAC instructional sessions will increase by 8% due to the change from GST to HST.

SNAC regrets this price increase, which has nothing to do with an increase in our consistently high-value, economically-priced classes.

SNAC hopes that everyone understands that we must adhere to the service tax regulations.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

OAA Champs - job well done Jul. 7th, 2010
Here's one of the thank you notes that our club received for hosting the 2010 OAA Target Champs:

Dear Kathy,

Just want to say a great big T H A N K Y O U for the wonderful experience we all had at the champs. You guys did the most amazing job hosting the event and the generosity of the Perkins family leaves us in awe.

Our group (13 archers, 9 parents, 1 coach) had a great time. The venue was spectacular, we still rave about the burgers!!, everything was thought out to the last detail and we all remarked upon how much work it must have taken to make it such a smooth running event. We stayed at the Best Western and were super happy with the comfortable mattresses, VERY clean rooms, and great customer service all around.

Please extend our thanks to the Perkins family for their incredible kindness and hard work, a big thank you to your archery families for their countless hours of volunteering and finally, THANK YOU to you and your family for a job outstandingly well done.

Carolin and Tessa and on behalf of Maciej, Toronto School of Archery (TSA)

2010 OAA Champs GREAT Success Jun. 27th, 2010
Greetings:

Thanks to our terrific club members, the Perkins family, Coulter family, Fumerton family, Perry family, Nancy Chalut and Paul Shipclark, we were able to host a very successful Ontario Target Championship this weekend in Athens.

It was by far the biggest turn-out in the past 15 years: 93 archers.

I have posted the results.

Thanks again to all of our volunteers and families - we couldn't have done it without you!

Chris Perkins sets new world record! May. 25th, 2010
Congratulations to CHRISTOPHER PERKINS who set a new junior men compound world record for the FITA70M round - 702 out of a possible 720 points!

The request has been accepted by FITA, and you can see it on their website.

The previous record for the round was 698, held by Marc Remie of the Netherlands.

Of course, Christopher also set the national record and it is in the process of being accepted also. The old record was 692, held by Simon Rousseau.

Way to go, Christopher!!!
