Congratulations to the 400 high school students who participated at this year’s indoor archery tournament in Richmond Hill, ON on May 18 and 19. In particular, we are pleased to congratulate archers who train at SNAC, representing 10 schools across eastern Ontario. We had a number of new archers with the group this year and we are hoping that most of them will return for next year’s OFSSA event.
Thank you to our volunteer drivers who helped Kathy Millar this time: Ray Bougie, Patrick Laforest, Patrick Jaquemet and Connie Siedule.
On Day 1, standard equipment, compound limited and compound unlimited archers competed, and SNAC was well represented in the unlimited division. Congratulations to Kaity Horlock (Archbishop Denis) who won gold in women, and who had the top score for the tournament, 596 (4 points off perfect).
For the men, Ryan Luckovitch (Madawaska Valley) won silver with 579, and Max Binkle (Thousand Islands SS) shot PBs all day to finish 14th. 3 archers represented North Dundas District High School – Rhyce Sheerer 27th, Sebastian Rutherford 43rd, and Logan Billings 56th and we are hopeful that we will see them again in 2017.
On Day 2, it was Recurve Archery and SNAC archers did well again. For the women, Sandra Siedule-Rampton (NGDHS) led the way finishing 17th, Victoria Borgia (NDDHS) 19th, Emily Hockey (St. Michael’s) 20th, Miranda Paquette (Osgoode) 23rd, Allie Broadhurst (St. Mark’s) 24th, Payton Halpenny (NDDHS) 31st, Justine Miller (TISS) 70th. This was the largest division in the tournament.
For the men, Cyrill Jaquemet (NDDHS) just missed the medals in 8th, Josh Sequillion (Leahurst) 21st, and Mason Laforest (ESCE) 93rd.
Great job, everyone!
